The moving of the cheese...

Ever read that book "Who Moved My Cheese?" One year a really great principal required all the staff to read it. Good stuff, really. :)

Well, my cheese has been shifting a few inches on a near weekly basis for about a year. But today it was thrown down the street. LOL

I found out in a meeting today that I will be leaving my current school at the end of the year and will be teaching ESOL at a nearby elementary school next year. I'm excited and scared shitless at the same time. :) An adventure? Yep! Crazy, turn my world upside down change? Yep! Everything happens for a reason? Yep- I'm going with that. ;)

On a side note, my roommate at work REALLY got the shaft. She'll be leaving our "comfy" room to spend her day half-sies between two schools, while another teacher will be coming in taking over our full time gig. I know it's all about test scores, etc- I get it. But MAN am I glad I'm not her!

Update

I was scrolling down and noticed my post about the personal trainer. Well, update: I quit. LOL It was a great experience. I did it because it was "free"- and I am glad I did. I don't know that I would have tried using a personal trainer otherwise. BUT, I did and I learned a lot even in the few sessions we had. In the end though- it was a long drive away (Fayetteville!), I had to get a babysitter once a week to make it happen ($$), and the other time I was missing some of the very little time Chas and I have together. The training itself was great- the logistics of it all? Crappy. Anyway, I am continuing to exercise with a few coworkers after school and it is going well. Knowing that someone is waiting for you is fabulous motivation- and getting it out of the way immediately after school is SO nice. Not only do I get to bask in the post-workout energy rush (unlike working out late at night when I have to go to sleep!), but it means I don't have to give it a second thought when I get home. FABULOUS!!! I've also noticed lately that if we skip a day or two, it's hard to get back into it- so I'm gung ho, full steam ahead, don't skip a beat- for now!! I even worked out at home Friday night on the Wii! I haven't done that in forever. LOL

AAAAAND: Someone at work said "You've lost weight- you look great!" today!!! I think it was more the fact that I had my hair down for once, and had put makeup on- but I'll take the compliment!! :) :) :) :)

I hope my vast audience is doing well, too! ;) Love you all!

Are you?

I've been asked twice recently if I hold elementary certification. Um, yes- why do you ask?

It seems that there has been a prediction of the ESOL numbers going down at my school, and up elsewhere- at an elementary school, presumably. I'd expressed interest in transferring in the past, and now they're holding me to it. While in theory, that is A-OK with me, change is hard, KWIM?

I got an email today (from the ESOL Dept head at the county office) saying that I need to change my teaching certificate to my married name (OOPS!). If they're checking into that, well, it seems maybe this might happen.

I'm not sure how I feel about this- excited, pissed, anxious? Either which way, I sure wish they could just tell me ASAP!!!

Scrappy Sunday!

Thought I'd add something fun to my blog. As you may know, I digiscrap. I do the old fashioned kind too, when I have time to get out all the stuff. Digital is more convenient lately. And, I can share it here! :) HERE's a link to my recent digiscrap on Facebook. And two pages I made today, especially for "Scrappy Sunday" are right here!

This week... and last week... :)

It has been an incredibly frustrating few weeks- thanks to work. I've had tons of people breathing down my neck- or at least it felt like it. Three administrative observations this week, two days of county-office folks checking up on me, three meetings with my county-level department supervisor (two of which the principal attended as well). NOT FUN AT ALL. The most recent meeting had me in tears (I really HATE that my defense mechanism is to cry. It sucks. I cannot help it, and it sucks. Anyways.)... Then, I am told quietly that it is not *my* work that is being questioned and that I am doing a great job. WHAT??!!! If that is truly the case, why couldn't you have told me before I was a nervous wreck for two solid weeks?? (And if you're just saying it because I was in tears... well, that's not cool.)

Luckily the week has ended well. :)

I had an all day training today, that while not superb, was enjoyable. :) Abby's "Fortune-Telling Meatball" (don't ask) correctly predicted that the meeting would be long and boring, but that my friends would be there and my lunch would be yummy. LOL (She was insisting that I ask the meatball yes/no questions on the way to school this morning- LOL).

And the BEST part? I've reached my first weight loss goal!!! I am down TWENTY FIVE POUNDS! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!! On to the next one! :) :) :) :) :)

This week...

On Sunday I worked with a personal trainer for the first time! I got in free with a friend of a friend- I really liked the trainer, and it was definitely a GREAT workout! Trying to figure out when I can fit in regular sessions, and I'm excited to see the eventual results! :)

In other news, Abby is kissing people at school, and Alex has outgrown nearly all his clothes. He needs 12 months size now! Crazy!!
